Habas has won the Indian Super League as a coach twice in the 2014 season and the 2019-20 season.
He is arriving to India after previously managing the side in the 2020-21 season, his last as a manager in India.
“Along with making a powerful first-team side, Mohun Bagan Super Giant wants to stress on youth development with the aim of producing first-team players from the various age-group sides.
“Habas will be in charge of technical instructions for all the sides. The development side is currently training for the Calcutta League,” the club said in a statement.
The Spaniard is the only manager to have won multiple ISL titles. In fact, he was also the first coach to win the ISL, leading the then Atletico de Kolkata franchise to victory in the inaugural season in 2014.
The 66-year-old also had a stint with FC Pune City later before returning to the the helm once again at ATK and led them to the ISL title in the 2019-20 season.
Habas also spearheaded the side to another ISL final in the following year but failed to win it for the third time in his career. He ended up parting ways with the Mariners midway during the 2021-22 season.
