Jose Manuel Pinto, who spent six years as a goalkeeper for Barcelona, now teaches Zumba.
Jose Manuel Pinto has had a very strange career. The reserve goalkeeper for Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona has two Champions League titles to his name, but since his retirement, he has left the world of football altogether. Now, Pinto finds himself in a career teaching Zumba to students.
The 47-year-old Spaniard had a pretty decent football career in Spain where he won the Bobby Zamora Trophy for being the best goalkeeper in La Liga with Celta Vigo in the 2005-06 season. He then earned a move to Barcelona where he would make sporadic appearances as their reserve goalkeeper behind number 1 Victor Valdes.
Pinto did feature on the bench for both the 2009 and 2011 Champions League finals against Manchester United, both of which were won by Barcelona. He retired from football when his contract with Barcelona expired in 2014.
Since then, his career has taken him to different paths and avenues. Pinto has released music under the stage name 'Wahin', having launched the record label 'Wahin Makinaciones' during his football career. Moreover, he has also led Zumba classes and instructed students, and clips of them are available on his Instagram channel.
In 2020, Pinto released his first album, entitled ''Del 13 al 1', which translates as 'From 13 to 1'. The goalkeeper previously wore the number 13 shirt at Barcelona, where he served as a long-term deputy to Victor Valdes.
Jose Manuel Pinto’s Youtube channel also features plenty of music videos on a number of his songs. His recent release ‘Tukapum’ attracted a lot of attention while another of his releases, a collaboration with DJ Ricky Luna, featured in the film 'The Fate of the Furious' alongside other tracks including the likes of Migos and Pitbull.
That was far from being the only music track of his to appear in a big-budget Hollywood film. Another song ‘Papi Papi’ was used in the Kevin Hart movie 'Ride Along', which made more than $120m at the box office.
The 'Tukapum' video has already received more than 600,000 plays on YouTube at the time of writing, while several other music videos of his have hit the six-figure mark.
