While being able to lift weights, jog, and run regularly at the age of 58 is something that is greatly appreciable, doing active and dangerous stunts in a hardcore action film is almost unthinkable. And yet, renowned Canadian actor Keanu Reeves has nailed his latest appearance in John Wick: Chapter 4 where he performed most of his own stunts and executed them flawlessly.
It goes without saying that performing something so intense, physical, and demanding at this age takes a lot of dedication, discipline and consistency. The Matrix star is a legendary name in the world of fitness and nutrition and he has extensively talked about his routine and diet.
Keanu Reeves’ workout regime
Keanu Reeves mostly prefers doing cardio as well and he also has a strong mixed martial arts background. Reeves’ great concern at this age is to maintain the stability in his body while also improving agility, flexibility and movement.
For example, in order to prepare his body for the demands of John Wick 4, Reeves began his preparation 4-5 months before and used to practice for a minimum of 4-5 hours a day everyday.
Keanu Reeves also practices jujutsu, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, judo as well as tactical shooting. He is very famous in Hollywood for his martial arts skills and that is why most of his action sequences have a rhythm and flow to them.
Keanu Reeves’ circuit routine
Since the 58-year-old is mostly concerned about stability, ease of movement, and agility, most of his exercises are dedicated to improving balance and core stability. He performs most of his workout movements on a bosu ball or stability ball and at his age, he also tries to involve a lot of banded workout instead of lifting just pure weights.
Exercises like lateral raises, wall presses, forward and backward lunges and reaches, shoulder presses, isometric holds, planks and ab movements are extremely common in his fitness routine.

When it comes to diet, Keanu Reeves believes in simplicity but effectiveness. He has a healthy nutrition plan that mostly centres around rice, chicken, and vegetables. The action star tries to balance his protein, carbs, and fat intake and also doesn’t push himself too hard in order to avoid consistency and consume junk food.
That is one of the reasons why Reeves is not afraid to have an odd glass of beer or wine once in a while.
In interviews, he has said that he prefers eggs, oatmeal, and berries for breakfast. When it comes to lunch, chicken and brown rice are his go-to items. Reeves consumes protein bars or some form of protein as snacks during the day. During dinner, he prefers to eat sweet potato, steak, and vegetables.
